Puger – a beach on the southern part of Jember – is a place where 6,000 fishermen earn their living. Its big waves never fail to tempt surfers to
ride them. On the town hall, lies an ancient canon which was once owned by Prince Puger. To ride the waves in Puger is not a metaphorical phrase. Puger region lies 40 kilometers south of Jember city and has tremendous big waves. Facing Indonesian Ocean and protected
by Nusa Barong Island, Puger beach is a surfers’ paradise.
Beside big waves, Puger also has a fish market which auctions fresh fish with cheap prices. Grilled fish is also served at the nearby warung/traditional food stalls.
